You may want to think twice the next time you put a check in the mail to pay your bills. Flagging is a trend that is starting to occur across the country. There have been reports across the country of people that put mail out only to find it missing and never reaching its intended destination.
Criminals that have been caught doing this, refer to it as “flagging”. They will travel down a street looking for the red flags on mailboxes that are up. They would then remove all of the mail looking for checks or other personal nformation. This is another way to steal your identity as the criminal will have access to all of your information via your check and statement/bill.
Keep this in mind if you have a traditional mail box and you still pay your bills by mail. If you do you may want to go the extra step and take your mail to the post office. This is just another thing to be aware of. If you see someone other than the mail carrier in your neighbor’s mail box give us a call. They are probably up to no good.
